Letter Day 2019

By Joyce Szuflita
“The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well.” - Leo Rosten, Emerson or Thomas Carlyle, whoever…they were right.

Before you open MY SCHOOLS this afternoon and see the results, you and your child should sit and write out this quote and post it on the fridge. It is an outward looking statement, not an inward one. This is how to see the best in your results with curiosity and hope for the future, to chase away the blues, to bypass a mid life crisis, and to die without regrets. It is never too soon to live your life this way.

It is the kid that makes the school, not the school that makes the kid. Live that life. It is so much richer and more satisfying than the alternative.
