News about Brklyn Prospect Charter school in 2020
/By Joyce Szuflita Brooklyn Prospect Charter School has several schools in District 15 and District 13.
Currently:
Downtown Elementary School in D13 K-5th grade
Clinton Hill Middle School in D13 6-8th grade
Windsor Terrace Middle School in D15 6-8th grade
Brooklyn Prospect High School in D15 9-12th grade
First, there will be a new Elementary School in D15 in the fall of 2020 - Windsor Terrace Elementary
There will be two info sessions: Mon. March 16 (6-7:30pm) and Tues March 17 (6-7:30pm) @ 202 Caton Ave.
School Gym (formerly Kensington Fitness).
Secondly, The Windsor Terrace MS has some admissions changes for fall of 2020.
This from the Director of Student Recruitment & Admissions, Prospect Schools:
”Windsor Terrace Middle School (WTMS) is temporarily moving to 40 Flatbush Avenue Extension in District 13 and, by law, our in-district lottery preference must align with the school’s temporary location, District 13. Families who applied to Windsor Terrace Middle School and reside in District 15 will no longer receive in-district preference during the April 2020 lottery. Other lottery preferences (sibling, employee child and socio-economically disadvantaged,) will not be affected by the school’s temporary move.
Tour of Temporary Location
While we generally offer tours to students who are accepted through the lottery, we will not be able to provide tours immediately following the lottery due to renovations at our temporary location. We hope to provide tours of 40 Flatbush Avenue Extension after renovations have been completed.
Our collective goal is to provide our students with the best academic tools in a comfortable learning environment. We are committed to ensuring a seamless transition for students, families and staff and sincerely thank you for understanding our mission and vision during our time of growth.
Please note: In SchoolMint, you may apply to both BPCS middle schools — Clinton Hill and Windsor Terrace — and rank the schools by your order of preference. Given the news outlined above, you may think to reconsider your ranking because WTMS’ temporary location is closer to your home; however, please keep in mind that this move is only temporary, as WTMS will move into its permanent location in District 15 before your child finishes eighth grade. “
This will be disappointing for prospective middle school families who reside in D15 who are interested in Brooklyn Prospect for fall of 2020.
